Sports Injury

Garry Slade established Thera-Sport in 1998 after spending time  in America working  at a Premier  Physiotherapy and Rehab Clinic that worked with The Indiana Pacers Basket ball team.

The idea that hands on physiotherapy should be combined with rehabilitation at one site was relatively new to the UK.

Having experienced injury first hand as an international long jumper  Garry knew how frustrating it was to be injured and how important it was  to have the correct Physiotherapy and Rehab to aid recovery   Garry combined his Sports Science Degree with his physiotherapy degree  to accelerate patients/clients  recovery and return to function.

These skills were recognised as Garry was headhunted to develop Physiotherapy Services at  several  Rugby League Clubs which include Bradford Bulls, Wakefield Wildcats, Huddersfield Giants and Hull F.C.

He has also worked with the British Gymnastics Team and provided Physiotherapy and Rehab at several World and European Championships. As well as working with the British Gymnastic Team providing them with support he has also worked in Disability in Sport working with the partially sighted England football team at their World and European Cups.

In 2005 Garry was asked to set up a Physiotherapy and Rehab Centre at The John Smith’s Stadium and during his ten years at this venue Garry invested over £100,000 making it the Premier Rehab Centre in the area providing Huddersfield Giants and Huddersfield Town the use of these exceptional facilities. Unfortunately in 2015 the Stadium decided that it would be better served with a coffee bar and Thera-Sport was forced to look for new premises which it has found at The Surgery, Trinity Street, Huddersfield.
